[ it's not that it's a hard question to answer but the memories it conjures up still sting, fresh as they are. hak's quiet a long time, gazing out into the flowers and bushes beyond. ]
... considering his reaction back when that courtroom was around and he couldn't be convinced he didn't deserve to be sentenced, that doesn't shock me. [ he tries with yuma, but he knows even that's a little out of his depth. ] God. I think... he takes his failures very personally. And if there's a failure, or he doesn't do what he's "meant" to do, he thinks it isn't worth it. I kinda hate it.
I think even trying is more than some people would've bothered, Hak. [ just pointing that out. ] I hope you're right though. Obviously all four of you deserved it, I'm pissed it was even a question. But that's always how these things end, it sounds like. A choice.
No. We just had to make a choice between doing what we set out to do, or saving four other people. That was about the point our memories really started coming back.
[ sometimes you get right to the end and have to decide if you'll fight a deity to save many people you don't actually know, or you choose to save one important person. ]
... before that though. We had to decide if we would take a path of endurance, or a path of revenge. But all of us took the endurance route, so I don't know what was waiting on the other end of revenge.

Probably, yeah. [ about more killing. ] It's... complicated to say, because at the time we still didn't even have our real memories. But when we got to the platform and saw the four coffins, everything sorta came back all at once. Nothing else mattered after that, so I guess in a way it did turn out.
[ not that he still hasn't idly thought about the world and the people who weren't his and how they never finished the job, but that's his own problem. ]

What happened to them, Hak? [ where did those people go? ]

....They died. We killed them.

We got taken to another place after that and asked if we all deserved to live. [ another frown, deeper. ] Really thought Yuma was gonna say no.
[ he is so worried about that guy. ]

[ his turn to close his eyes, a mix of regret and frustration crossing his face. ]
I tried, but I'm not really the best guy for that sort of thing. But I think Thorns got through to him a little.

Probably more killing.
