[ stop please be nice to hak. this makes him look up though, blinking in surprise as he mulls over that. ]
That seems to be one of them. All of us on ours had fake memories for the world we were in, and in the one last time, some of them experienced some changed memories. [ okay literally just tsukasa, but he feels like saying some is safer. ] Both groups saw people they knew, too.
We were all people with ties to some brothel called the Moonlit Blossoms. [ the following story is rated pg-13 for depictions of sex and nudity (jk) ] I was some kind of gambler. We all knew we died somehow and we were supposed to figure out who killed us.

I guess that's not the weirdest part of all of this. Siffrin and I weren't even human on ours because we'd already been erased and put into other bodies.
[ this is not important. what's important is what hak is saying and this keeps getting worse. ]

The rat was mad because we were kidnapping and selling people but also because his girlfriend was sick. [ ... ] I think I might have poisoned his girlfriend on accident.
[ it's a long story. ]
He wanted medicine to help her and thought we might have some since we covered up our kidnapping stuff by saying it was a medicine trade. That's how he found out.

Dunno. Medea wasn't that tall when she got turned into a rat.
[ just casually throws her under the bus. anyway, ]
We fought him and managed to free ourselves. Medea and Yuma went to go check out the two doors connected to the room but Yuma got sucked into his door and Medea ran after someone inside the room she went into. I followed Yuma and Thorns followed Medea.
Okay, never mind. That part also makes sense. We stuck together for most of our trip outside of exploring different paths for recon, but Mafuyu, Tsukasa, and Edamura-san split up during theirs, too. [ ... ]
So then you went through the same door as Yuma. What do you mean he got sucked in?
Yeah. When some creepy voice asked if we all deserved to live or not.
[ sorry for going out of order yosuke ]
It was all pitch black when he opened the door and some kind of hand reached out to grab him. When I ran in after him I also couldn't see anything. It felt like I was in there forever until something changed.
[ the way his hackles immediately raise at the notion that any of these four people were questioned about something like this. he does his best not to be angry though because hak's trying to tell him something and he has to wait. ]
That... first of all, creepy much? But I would've run after him, too, if that were the case. [ ... ] What changed then?
[ it's not that it's a hard question to answer but the memories it conjures up still sting, fresh as they are. hak's quiet a long time, gazing out into the flowers and bushes beyond. ]
... considering his reaction back when that courtroom was around and he couldn't be convinced he didn't deserve to be sentenced, that doesn't shock me. [ he tries with yuma, but he knows even that's a little out of his depth. ] God. I think... he takes his failures very personally. And if there's a failure, or he doesn't do what he's "meant" to do, he thinks it isn't worth it. I kinda hate it.
I think even trying is more than some people would've bothered, Hak. [ just pointing that out. ] I hope you're right though. Obviously all four of you deserved it, I'm pissed it was even a question. But that's always how these things end, it sounds like. A choice.
No. We just had to make a choice between doing what we set out to do, or saving four other people. That was about the point our memories really started coming back.
[ sometimes you get right to the end and have to decide if you'll fight a deity to save many people you don't actually know, or you choose to save one important person. ]
... before that though. We had to decide if we would take a path of endurance, or a path of revenge. But all of us took the endurance route, so I don't know what was waiting on the other end of revenge.

So wait, how were you alive if you were solving your deaths? Did you guys have ties to each other, or just the same brothel?

[ sometimes you are stupid and you don't really question flawed foundations. ]
We all knew each other. We were all involved in some kind of trafficking business.

Were you guys giant rats?
[ why specifically rats.....? don't worry about it. they have more important things to discuss. ]
We were still doing it. A giant rat kidnapped us and tried to threaten us into stopping.
[ is it still bad or is it just weird now ]

Why were you kidnapped by a giant rat. Where did the rat come from? Wait, how giant is giant?
[ it's both. ]

I see... yeah, that would do it. If he was already desperate, of course he'd freak out. [ wait. ] Why was he so tall?!
[ LITERAL GIANT RAT. ]
Okay, well... anyway. What did you do after this rat confronted you?
